How to Save Money

Looking for ways to save money on your water bill? Here are a few watering tips to save you time and money.

If you have an automatic sprinkler, have your sprinkler heads adjusted so that they don’t water the sidewalks, driveway or house. Your automatic sprinkler system should have a timer and moisture sensor to prevent overwatering. If you don’t have automatic sprinklers, you can purchase a hose timer at a local hardware store.

In the spring, delay the start of watering to allow the roots to grow deeper. Water only when the grass shows signs of stress. Water heavier and less frequently because that will allow the roots to grow deeper, which will allow them to be more resilient and less susceptible to dry conditions.Keep the grass longer so it holds water better and dries out slower. Whenever possible, water during the night hours when there is less wind and less evaporation so the water will soak down better to grow deeper roots. Do not sprinkle in the rain, let Mother Nature take care of it for you.
